WAKEFIELD, Mich. – William Leroy Plumley, 77, of 210 Sunday Lake St., Wakefield, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at his home, with his loving wife by his side.
He was born on Dec. 22, 1935, in Iron Mountain, the son of Charles Horace and Delphia Mae (Beals) Plumley.
In 1961, Bill moved to Waukegan, Ill., and worked for the United States Steel Corporation, Graham Oil in Grayslake, Ill., and then started his own business, William Plumley Trucking. Bill had a very successful trucking career, and retired in 2000.
He relocated to Wakefield and worked in maintenance for the forestry and was a jack-of-all-trades at Northwoods Motel.
Bill will be greatly missed and never forgotten by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Arthrene; three children, Brian (Melissa) Plumley, Kenosha, Wis., Colleen (David) McPherson, Zion, Ill., and Michael (Melissa) Plumley, Wilmot, Wis.; three grandchildren, Christine Plumley, Wadsworth, Ill., and Jessica and Morgan Plumley, both of Wilmot; a great-grandson, Trent Fink, Wadsworth; a great-great-grandson, Bentley Fink, Wadsworth; two brothers, Earl (Pat), Racine, Wis., and Maitland (Margie), Amherst, Va.; three sisters, Gladys Kummer, Wakefield, Pauline Smith, Three Rivers, and Alida Rimkus, Ironwood; four stepchildren, Bill (Bridget) Gross, Barnegat, N.J., Cindy Gross and Dena Ortiz, both of Kenosha, and Shannon Miller, Wildwood, Ill.; five stepgrandchildren, Isaiah and Anthony Ortiz, both of Waukegan, Joseph Echivarric, Kenosha, and Savannah and Brandon Miller, both of Wildwood; and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Lily Ortiz, Waukegan.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Lyle; and a sister, Wilmajane Plumley.
No funeral service is scheduled at this time.
The family would like to thank everyone at the Regional Hospice Services Inc., especially Gina and Cassandra, for their loving care that was given to Bill during his illness.
