Obituary

Wilfred T. "Willy" Alden, 64, 608 Harrison St., Wakefield, formerly of New Boston, went to be with his Lord Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at his home.

He was born on Feb. 21, 1947, in Bessemer, the son of Eugene "Shorty" LeRoy and Lorraine Marie (Steiner) Alden. Willy graduated from Marenisco High School in 1965.

Following graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Army as a drill sergeant during the Vietnam War.

On Sept. 8, 1973, Willy married Rosemary D. Edmark in Romulus.

He loved the Lord and enjoyed sharing the good news. Willy was a "Spiritual Father" to many and wherever he went he brought gifts of joy. He was a faithful member of Cornerstone Church in Ramsay.

Willy loved all Michigan teams, and his hobbies included golfing and bowling.

He was employed by and retired from Northwest Airlines in Detroit, after 35 years of service.

Willy is survived by a son, Brett, Port Washington, Wis.; a granddaughter, Destinee Rose Alden, Wausau, Wis.; three brothers, Eugene (Sharon), Iron Mountain, Kenneth (Patricia) and Louis (Carol), both of Marenisco; his mother-in-law, Lillian Edmark, Ironwood; four brothers-in-law, Barry DuCharme, Marenisco, Edwin (Joanne) Edmark, Hurley, Wis., Clyde Edmark, Ironwood, and Ronald Carlson, Bessemer; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, including special niece, Vicki Alden Myers, Somerset, Wis.; his goddaughter, Ciara Myers, Somerset; other loving relatives; and a host of friends, including special friends April and Gary Floyd, Flat Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Rosemary, on June 26, 2010; three sisters, Mary Meyers, Elizabeth "Betty" Ducharme and Rita Carlson; his father-in-law, Edwin Edmark; two brothers-in-law, Paul, in infancy and Kevin Edmark; and two sisters-in-law, Paula, in infancy and Janice Edmark.

Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 20, from 2 to 3 p.m., with the honor guard beginning at 2:15 p.m., at Cornerstone Church, N10344 Mill St., Ramsay, where a memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. The Revs. Todd Winkler and Roy Speck will officiate.

Following the service, military honors will take place at the church under the auspices of American Legion Geroux Post 11, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084 and the American Legion Post 523.

A luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall
following the military rites.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
