MARENISCO, Mich. – Viola May Nurmi, 84, of Marenisco, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023.

Viola was born on Oct. 25, 1938, in Louisville, Illinois, number nine of 13 children to Charles B. and Goldiss May (Sparks) Bryan. She graduated from Louisville High School.

For 20 years, Viola was employed as a secretary at Outboard Marine Corporation in Waukegan, Illinois.

Viola is survived by a sister, Ann Eller; her children, James (Karen) McGillivray, Steven (Kelly) McGillivray, Christine (Charles) Hair, Daniel (Amy) McGillivray, Vickie (Nurmi) Krueger, Robert (Mary) Nurmi, Donna (Steve) Everett and Kathleen Hayden Nurmi; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other loving relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Rueben Nurmi, in 1991, and Eero Nurmi, in 2002; her 11 siblings; and children, Rusty, Randy, Susie and Kenny Nurmi.

At the family's request, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
