BRUCE CROSSING, Mich. – Vera Jean (nee Kananen) Rentmeester, 65, of Bruce Crossing, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at the Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.

Vera was born on Feb. 27, 1957, in Ontonagon, a daughter of Fred E. and Esther E. (Larson) Kananen.

On Aug. 27, 1983, she married Randall Wayne Rentmeester in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Vera was employed as an inventory clerk for Wisconsin Public Service, starting in Green Bay and transferring to Eagle River, Wisconsin. Due to health reasons, she took an early retirement. Then, Vera worked part-time as a bartender and for Nordine's Foodstore in Watersmeet.

She is survived by her loving husband, Randy; a son, Ross; a brother, Fred (Cece); other dear relatives; and many, many friends.

A celebration of Vera's life will be held at a later date.
