Obituary

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Tracy E. Conley of Verona Road, Wakefield, passed away at home on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026. He was born to Addie C. and Rosemary (nee Hamilton) Conley in Wakefield, in November 1953. Tracy attended elementary school in Montana. The family returned to Wakefield where he graduated from Wakefield High School in 1973. While in school, he participated in football and vocational classes. After graduation, he worked at the White Pine Copper Mine in Ontonagon County. He earned a welding certificate from Northern Michigan University and worked as a welder in mines in Finland, Minnesota, as well as Elko, Nevada and White Pine.

He grew up with and remained close to his first cousins, especially Harvey, John and Clayton Conley, Duane Hamilton and Earl Riley. He spent many hours fishing, hunting and camping with his first cousins and their families. He participated in a local bowling league with John and Duane. In recent years, he visited with cousins via phone calls especially Neil Hamilton, Iris Hamilton and Cheryl Hamilton.

Tracy was a fan of Michigan sports teams, especially the Detroit Tigers.

Tracy never married. He was a caregiver for both of his parents and helped care for his Uncle Alfred (Dutch) and his grandmother, Loretta Mae (Hall) Hamilton.

Tracy was preceded in death by his parents; as well as several uncles and aunts on both the Conley and Hamilton side of the family,  Aster and Lillian (Hamilton) Conley, Erick and Marie (Hamilton) Makela, Bill and Marion (Heath) Hamilton, Alfred Hamilton, Glen Hamilton, Ben and Nancy (Lahti) Hamilton, Myrtle (Hamilton) Riley, Ora and Vina (Houle) Conley, Sam and Edna (Conley) Plank, Inez Conley, Leonard Conley and Vergie (Conley) Wood.


Tracy has half sisters from his mother's first marriage, Donna (Pierce) Kinney and her husband, Joseph, who both recently passed away. Tracy has a special niece, Dana (Kinney) Lowe, who he would visit with via phone calls. From his father's first marriage to Lola Barnett, he is survived by Gaye Barnett and Patricia Lentol. Tracy is also survived by numerous cousins not mentioned above, as well as friends.

A family celebration of life and a graveside service is planned for in the summer.
