Thomas J. Warczak Sr. "Chief," 76, of N10211 East Shore Road, Marenisco, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, in Wakefield.
Tom was born on July 21, 1934, in Chicago, the son of Charles and Anna (Bierwaltes) Warczak.
He graduated from St. Mels High School in Chicago.
On Sept. 11, 1976, Tom was united in marriage with Lana M. Harth in Chicago.
He retired from Northern Illinois Gas Company after 33 years of service, and then moved with his wife to their dream home on Lake Gogebic.
Tom was active in the Lake Gogebic Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as fire chief for 13 years.
The legacy he has left behind and the lives he has touched have been an inspiration and blessing to all who knew him. Heaven has received a great man.
Tom is survived by his wife, Lana; three sons, Thomas Jr. (Tami), Mosinee, Wis., Timothy C. (Gina), Lake Villa, Ill., and Jeffrey (Pearl), Spring Grove, Ill.; two daughters, Karin (Keith) Herron, Lake Villa, and Julie Jaeck (Alan Nordberg), Marenisco; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, from 10 to 11 a.m., at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Marenisco, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Raymond F. Moncher officiating.
Rite of Committal and burial will take place in the spring at Marenisco Cemetery.
