LAKE GOGEBIC, Mich. – Tammy Marie (Johnson) Nowry, 48, of Lake Gogebic, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at her home.
She was born on Aug. 2, 1963, at Divine Infant Hospital in Wakefield, the daughter of Reuben C. and Anna Mae (Sporcich) Johnson. Tammy graduated from Wakefield High School in 1981. She graduated with honors and a 4.0 GPA from the nursing program held at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood.
On Aug. 3, 1992, Tammy married Michael R. Nowry at First Church of the Nazarene in Mercer, Wis.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, four-wheeling and riding her snowmobile. Tammy especially loved spending time with her family.
She was a registered nurse at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley, Wis.
Tammy is survived by her loving husband, Mike; a daughter, Kim (Tim) Reiher, Redford; three grandchildren, Hailey, and twins, Noah and Paige; two brothers, Tim (Sandy) Johnson, of Idaho, and Scotty Johnson, Bessemer; two brothers-in-law, Ron Nowry, Westland, and Jim Nowry, Waterford; an aunt and two uncles, Nancy and Rick Lorentzen, Clio, and George Sporcich, Wakefield; a niece and three nephews; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Daniel Johnson, on Dec. 13, 1978; and two uncles and an aunt, Tom "Pal" Sporcich and Johnny and Janet Sporcich.
A celebration of Tammy's life will be held at a later date. The day and time will be announced in the Daily Globe.
