PORT RICHEY, Fla. - Sylvia Syrjala, 96, of Michigan and Florida, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, after a short illness.

Sylvia is survived by a son, Eugene Jr.; two granddaughters, Lori and Lisa; a sister, Phyllis; and many other close relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene "Elky" Syrjala Sr., on March 2, 2016.

Those who knew her, know we have lost a sweet, nurturing soul that loved to cook and bake, loved her heritage, and above all loved her family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 2, at 11 a.m., at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield, Michigan, with a small memorial luncheon to follow for close friends and family (speak to Lisa for details).

Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield, is assisting the family.
