WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Susan Beth Nurmi, 63, of Wakefield, passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021.

Susie was born on May 29, 1957, in Waukegan, Illinois, a daughter of Rueben Johannes and Patricia Lois (Makela) Nurmi. She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1976.

Susie is survived by a daughter, Liisa (Ben) Cole; two grandchildren, Iyla and Gabriel; her mother, Patricia L. Pensala; a sister, Vickie Krueger; her stepmother, Viola M. Nurmi; and numerous stepbrothers, stepsisters, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rueben, on April 6, 1991; two brothers, Russell Victor "Rusty," on Dec. 7, 2010, and Randall John, on June 15, 2017; and her brother-in-law, Hugh Krueger, on March 14, 2015.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation will take place.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
