Steve "Chip" Delich, 95, of Ontonagon, formerly of Wakefield, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, in Ontonagon.
He was born on March 16, 1916, in Wakefield, the son of Mike and Jennie (Vukobradovich) Delich.
Steve served in the U.S. Army, Company B 31st Tank Battalion, during World War II. He was honorably discharged as a Technician 4th Grade on Oct. 16, 1945, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. Steve was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084.
Chip enjoyed camping and fishing, and worked in the woods.
Steve is survived by a sister, Lillian Dellich, Ironwood; a brother, Robert, Bessemer; numerous nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Mike, Daniel, Peter and Dewey Sr.; and two sisters, Anna Baldrica and Mary Lane.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1202 Putnam Blvd., Wakefield, with the Rev. Bill Jacobson officiating.
Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service, with the honor guard beginning at 10:15 a.m.
Following the service, full military honors will be accorded by the combined American Legion Post 11 and the VFW Post 9084 Honor Guard.
Luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall following the military rites.
Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery in the spring.
