Stephany J. Favero
WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Stephany J. Favero, 89, a longtime resident of Ramsay, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, in Wakefield.
She was born on May 25, 1922, at Newport Hospital in Ironwood, the daughter of Stanley and Berla Borawski. Stephany was raised in Newport Location and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School.
During World War II, she moved to Detroit and was employed by Caterpillar.
On Aug. 26, 1950, Stephany married George F. Favero at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ironwood. They made their home in Ramsay and were blessed with two sons. Stephany was never happier than when she was with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
In earlier years, Stephany worked as a clerk at the A&P Store in Ironwood. She enjoyed gardening, listening and dancing to her sons' polka music, and cooking and baking. Stephany was known for her caring heart, deep faith, and hard work ethic.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield and a former member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Ramsay.
Stephany is survived by sons, George Richard (Debra), Eagle River, Wis., and James "Big Jim," Bessemer; four grandchildren, Kelly (Nathan) Buska, Glencoe, Minn., Kristopher, Jordan, Minn., Alan (Courtney Smith), Bessemer, and Scott (Chelsea Popkowski), Pleasant Gap, Pa.; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Rae Favero, Bessemer; her extended family, Joanne, Leanne, Nick and Breanne Popkowski; several nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, George, on Dec. 25, 1997; her daughter-in-law, Linda; four brothers, Peter, Felix, Frank and Walter; and three sisters, Sabina, Leona and Florence.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
