MOUNTAIN VIEW, Ark. – Sandra Joyce Ellefson, 70, a long-time resident of Mountain View, passed away Thursday afternoon, Nov. 4, 2016, at her home.
Sandra was born on Oct. 27, 1946, in Oak Ridge, Tenn., a daughter of Elsie Mae (Westmoreland) and Harold Delmore Newport Sr. She graduated from Sylmar High School in Sylmar, Calif.
Sandra lived in Mountain View for the past 35 years moving from Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Sandra was an accomplished musician and a talented woodcarver. She took pleasure in genealogy, working on the computer, singing and playing the guitar, woodcarving, sewing, arts and crafts.
Sandra is survived by three children, Dan Matthews, Ramona, Calif., Tonja Chamberlain, New Egypt, N.J., and Roger Riff, Gainesville, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Robert, Devan, Brianna, Amanda, Amelia, Cassie, Brittany, Abby, Rebekka and Piper; six great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Ryder, Lylah, Ryan, Ethyn and Emmalee; a sister, Sharon Goad, Meeker, Okla.; a very special friend, Maggie Tvaroha; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; other loving relatives; and a host of friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Marvin D. Ellefson, on April 5, 1997; a daughter, Robin Culbreath; and two brothers, George Newport and Harold D. Newport, Jr.
A visitation was held in Mountain View.
Interment will take place Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 9 a.m., at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield, Mich.
