WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Russell L. "Susie" Danielson, 63, of Wakefield, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, Sept. 12, 2022.

Russ was born on Sept. 2, 1959, in Wakefield, a son of Glen R. and Donna J. (Tupper) Danielson. He attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1977.

For several years, Russ worked for his dad in the logging business. Then, he continued his education and received a degree in wildlife biology.

Russ moved to Big Rapids and was employed as a truck driver at MOARC. It was there, he met his future wife, Kay, and her son, Jonathan Harder.

On June 28, 1986, Russ and Kay were united in marriage at the Grant Center United Methodist Church in Big Rapids. They were blessed with a son.

Russ became disabled in 1991.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cribbage, coaching Little League and watching football on television, especially the University of Michigan and the Green Bay Packers.

Russ is survived by his beloved wife, Kay; a son, Jeremy (Jessica Harrison) and her son, Rashawn, all of Ironwood; a stepson, Jonathan (Jalisa) Harder, Jackson; two brothers, Kenneth, Milaca, Minnesota, and Dino, Osceola, Wisconsin; a sister, Paula (Tom) Wherley, Osceola; his brother-in-law, David (Kelley) VanAlstine, Big Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Diane (Jeff) Kettel, Big Rapids, and Arlene (Curt) Allen, Wilmore, Kentucky; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mark, on March 8, 2019; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Buddy Knapp; and his furry friend, Lucky.

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 30, at 1:30 p.m., preceded by visitation at 1 p.m., at the Wakefield United Methodist Church, 706 Putnam St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Pamela Starr and the Rev. Ted Trudgeon officiating.

A luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall following the service.
