Obituary

KELSO, Wash. – Roy K. Hill, 88, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019, in Kelso, Wash.

Roy was born on Dec. 17, 1930, in Wakefield, Mich., a son of Theodore and Vienna (Nurmikko) Hill. He attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1948.

Roy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from March 1949 to March 1950, and was called back to service during the Korean War from February 1952 to September 1953. He was a life member of Michigan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084, American Legion and Eagles.

Roy worked in construction, Operating Engineers Local 701-324, in Michigan, Washington, Oregon and Alaska.

Roy was married to Judith Pikka-Mustapaa, Dorothy Parvi and Ilona Falk, all who preceded him in death. He and Dorothy wintered in Arizona and were snowbirds for 15 years. He also traveled through 49 states as well as Canada and Mexico.

Roy is survived by two daughters, Brenda Carr, Longview, Wash., and Lori DeWitt, Springfield, Ore.; three granddaughters, Krystle Carr, Ames, Iowa, Amber (Oscar) Cabrera, Longview, and Tiffany Lawson, Klamath Falls, Ore; a grandson, Sean Lawson, of Oregon; a sister, Jane Lepisto, Minneapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his three wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ted; and two daughters, Linda Lawson and Jo Grantham.

Cremation has taken place.

A graveside service, with military rites under the auspices of the Wakefield VFW Post 9084 and Wakefield American Legion Geroux Post 11 Honor Guard, will take place Saturday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m., at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield. He will be laid to rest beside his parents.

Following the service, luncheon will be served at the VFW Post 9084, 107 E. U.S. 2, Wakefield.

Expressions of affection in a charitable contribution in Roy's memory are suggested to Community Home Health and Hospice, Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632 or an organization of your choice.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Community Home Health and Hospice, especially nurse Mia, and A Senior Life Adult Family Home for their excellent care of Roy during his time there.
