Obituary

HURLEY, Wis. - Ronald F. Morzenti, 84, of Hurley, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was born May 28, 1940, in Montreal, to Albert and Pauline (Cornetto) Morzenti. He graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley, with the class of 1958. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and married his first wife, Brenda (Julin) Kostecki. They had four children.

Ron proudly served his country in the army for 25 years between his active duty and his reserve service. He served the residents of Iron County for almost 15 years starting out as a deputy sheriff and eventually achieving the rank of chief deputy sheriff. Before retiring in 1993, Ron worked for the state of Wisconsin's correctional system at the Lincoln Hills facility for juveniles in Tomahawk.

On Dec. 8, 1983, he married Charlotte (Minkin) Movrich. In their early years of marriage, he and Charlotte spent most of their time at the log cabin they built, hunting small game and deer. He took great pride in keeping his properties beautiful and well-tended. Ron loved spending time with his family and traveling with Charlotte and their beloved dog, Nikole. During the winter months, they spent many years at their second home in Ocala, Florida. Ron treasured his Friday coffee chats with his longtime friends Bill, Lloyd and Dominic at a local bakery.

Ron is survived by his children, Jeff (Lori) Morzenti, Sara (Bob) Guski, Linda (Joe) Manzanares, Paul (Jen) Morzenti, Diane (Joseph) Bloom, Gerald (Melissa) Movrich and Holly (Paul Edmark) Movrich. He was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters, Karen (Dale) Sann and Carol Ann (Tim) Boyle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Charlotte, in 2023; a son, Robert "Bobby" Movrich; a grandson, baby Jacob Morzenti, in 1998; his parents, Albert and Pauline Morzenti; four brothers Albert, Jerry, Robert and James "Dewey;" three brothers and three sisters, who passed away in infancy or early childhood; his sister-in-law, Carol Jean Morzenti; his first wife, Brenda (Julin) Kostecki; and his fur baby, Nikole.

Ron will be dearly missed by his family and his closest friends.
