Roger Lynn
Miller
September 6, 1939 – March 18, 2023
WINCHESTER, Wis. – Roger Lynn Miller, 83, of Winchester, engineer, carpenter, foodie, leader, hunter, fisherman and social butterfly died on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at home with his family at his side. Roger was known for his thriftiness and was a social extrovert. He enjoyed a lifelong love of hunting ducks, deer, turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, gin martinis, cheeses, tools, woodworking, NASCAR and food. He thoroughly enjoyed politics and delighted in watching their silly antics.
Roger was active in Boy Scouts of America, serving as Scoutmaster, Cubmaster, District Chairman, Wood Badge Training, earned District Award of Merit and Silver Beaver Award and took four troops to the National Jamboree in Idaho in 1973. He was a leader for the town of Winchester Planning Commission and was involved with the Winchester Fire Department and a pistol league. His career included surveying, road building, and eventually information technology all with the state of Wisconsin.
Roger will be sorely missed by his wife of 53 years, Gail; his children, Dan and Nancy (nee Haselwander) Miller, Diana Santos Miller, Debra (Randy) Holtz and Eric Miller; five grandchildren, James, Wendy, Kevin, Jesse and Rhonda; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Bentley; several nieces and nephews; and his Brittany, Brie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Wilda Miller; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Carol and Robert Elliker, and Marcia Kay Miller.
A celebration of Roger's life will be held at the Winchester Municipal Building, 7228 County Highway W, in Winchester, on Saturday, April 29, beginning at 2 p.m., with coffee and sweets.
