MELLEN, Wis. – Rodger Wayne Nordine, 73, of Mellen, formerly of long-time resident of Bessemer, Mich., passed away Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 15, 2016.
Rodger was born on Feb. 23, 1943, in Kenton, Mich., a son of Jack Marlow and Viola (Heikkila) Nordine. He attended Bergland, Mich., High School and graduated in 1961.
Rodger proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
He enjoyed the outdoors and spent countless hours fishing and hunting.
On May 18, 1974, Rodger was united in marriage to Mary Irene Thompson at the First Presbyterian Church in Trout Creek.
Rodger is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Mary, Bayside Village, L'Anse, Mich.; a daughter, Janet (Daniel) Sturkol, Wakefield, Mich., five grandchildren, David, Rebecca, Isaiah, Jamie and Alice; a brother, Russell; three sisters, Marion, Marilyn and Kathy; and numerous other relatives.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a son, Leslie; and a daughter, Audrey (Nordine) Kapelka.
In accordance with Rodger's wishes, cremation has taken place.
No funeral service is scheduled at this time.
