WAUSAU, Wis. – Roderick J. Newman, 63, of Wakefield, Mich., passed away Sunday evening, July 16, 2017, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau.
Rod was born on Feb. 11, 1954, in Wakefield, a son of Bertil Gustav and Ellen Ebba (Niemi) Newman. He attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1972. He continued his education at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Mich.
Rod worked for most of his life as an insurance salesman. He was employed for several years at Northwest Independent Insurance Agency in Bessemer, Mich., and then later was self-employed as an agent for many years.
Rod is survived by a brother, Richard (Mary), Poway, Calif.; a nephew, Jon (Kristi) Newman, Prescott Valley, Ariz.; a niece, Julie (Frank) Navarro, Murrieta, Calif.; four great-nephews; and a great-niece.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Raymond.
Cremation will take place, and there will be no funeral service.
