MARENISCO, Mich. – Robert J. "Bob" Ceplina, 88, of Marenisco, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 4, 1924, in Stevens Point, Wis., the son of John and Mary (Burclaff) Ceplina.
Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was employed by American Motors, Kimberly-Clark and various car garages as a mechanic. Bob loved working on cars.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 51 years, the former Lorraine M. Pete; six sons, Robert Jr., David (Pat), Michael (Melanie), Randy (Annette), Ralph and Marvin; four daughters, Karen (Ron) Hamski, Cindy (Jerry) Champagne, Barb (Ken) Dotson and Lynn (Ed) Piwonski; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Younger; several nieces and nephews; other loving family members; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m., preceded by visitation at noon and the honor guard beginning at 1:15 p.m., at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Marenisco, with the Rev. Ben Hasse, celebrant.
Rite of Committal and burial will take place in Marenisco Cemetery, where military rites will be held under the auspices of Marenisco American Legion Post 523, Wakefield American Legion Post 11 and Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084 Honor Guard.
A reception will be held at the Marenisco Town Hall following the cemetery service.
The family would like to thank everyone at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, and Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minn.
