Obituary

SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. - Raymond James Peterson, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away late Friday night, April 28, 2023, in Olympia, Washington, while visiting family after a brief battle with cancer. He was 68 years old.

Ray was born on Nov. 24, 1954, in Ironwood, Michigan, a son of Raymond J. and Marguerite (Ferguson) Peterson. He grew up in Bergland, Michigan, and graduated from Bergland High School in 1972.

Ray moved to Wisconsin in the late 1970s with his young family. He began working for Kohler Company in 1978, where he remained for 39 years, retiring in 2017. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club, as well as the UAW Local 833.

An avid fisherman, Ray also enjoyed turkey hunting, motorcycle and Corvette rides with friends, going to concerts, traveling and history. Above all, he cherished time spent with those he loved; laughing with his daughters, spending time with his grandkids and fur grandkids, and weekend trips to the Upper Peninsula to visit with family and friends.

Ray is survived by two daughters, Chris Peterson, Sheboygan Falls, and Becky (Jason) Popp, Siren; and two grandchildren, Maya and Nathan Katte. He is further survived by his siblings, Mary Ann (James) Pizl, Yelm, Washington, Margaret Livingston, Hurley, Joseph Peterson, Newton and Jerry Peterson, Sheboygan Falls; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and countless friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Daniel Peterson; and his brother-in-law, Richard Livingston.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, May 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bergland. Immediately following the visitation, Rite of Committal will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery in Bergland. The Rev. Michael Jacobus will officiate. Interment will follow.
