WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Patrick D. Clark, 82, of Wakefield, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin, after a brief illness.
Patrick was born on Jan. 3, 1943, in Wakefield, a son of John Robert and Hazel Leona (Dalbeck) Clark. He attended A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer and graduated in 1961.
Pat worked various jobs in Milwaukee, including the Cutler-Hammer factory.
He served in the U.S. Army from June 1964 to June 1966. Pat trained at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and then served as a Military Policeman in the stockade at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was honorably discharged as a specialist fourth grade.
Pat returned to the area and worked at White Pine Copper Mine from December 1966 to March 1968. He concluded his longtime working career as a forest fire officer with the Department of Natural Resources.
Pat retired to fishing and hunting, and his hobbies included woodworking, yard work and gardening.
Pat is survived by his wife, the former Janice K. Watson; a son, Daniel (Sheila); two grandsons, Matthew and Thomas; his sister-in-law, Kathy Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Howard (Vida), Jack (Helen) and E. David; and a sister, Evelyn (Harding) Gustafson.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, Feb. 28, from 12 to 12:45 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 407 Ascherman St., in Wakefield, with the honor guard beginning at 12:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Brian Gerber, celebrant.
Following the Mass, full military rites will be accorded at the church by the Wakefield American Legion Geroux Post 11 and Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084 Honor Guard, assisted by the U.P. Funeral Honors Team.
Rite of Committal and interment will take place in the spring at the Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
