Obituary

IRONWOOD, Mich. – Wakefield Township Clerk Patricia J. "Patty" Pikka, 72, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood.

She was born on Oct. 8, 1939, in Wakefield, the daughter of Harvey and Bertha (Fingeroos) Elliott. Patty graduated from Wakefield High School in 1958.


On June 27, 1959, she married Kenneth E. Pikka at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wakefield.

In earlier years, Patty was employed by Powderhorn Mountain Ski Resort. She was the Wakefield Township Clerk for the past 22 years.

Patty was the president of the Michigan Townships Association Local Chapter, and a member of the Gogebic Range Water Authority and All Saints Lutheran Church.

Patty is survived by her husband, Kenneth; two sons, Gary (Debra), Wakefield, and James (Terry), Antigo, Wis.; six grandchildren, Danielle (Leonard) Santi, Spread Eagle, Wis., Nathan (Megan DeRuyter) Dembowski, Antigo, Victoria (Chad Pflueger) Pikka, Wakefield, Ryan (Alissa Lowell) Pikka, Antigo, Jacob Pikka, Wakefield, and Emily Pikka, Antigo; four great-grandchildren, Kristian Pikka, Anastasia Santi, Alexis Santi and Bryce Dembowski; a sister, Charlotte (Ed) Johnson, Bruce Crossing; two brothers, Rexford (Mary Ann) Elliott, Marquette, and William (Linda) Elliott, Ishpeming; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister-in-law, Cindy Elliott.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, March 21, from 9 to 11 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Bill Jacobson officiating.

Pallbearers will be James Jacobson, John Cox, Michael Zacharias, Terry Lemire, Michael Elliott and Gerry Pelissero.

A luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery in the spring.
