BESSEMER, Mich. – Nancy Lee Gutowski, 87, of Bessemer, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Aspirus Ironwood Hospital, in Ironwood, with her loving family at her side.
The former Nancy Buehler was born April 29, 1937, in Chelsea, Michigan, a daughter of the late William C. and Leona G. (Culhane) Buehler.
On May 13, 1956, Nancy married the love of her life, Donald Wayne Gutowski, in Angola, Indiana. They were blessed with four children. Donald preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2020.
She was a magnificent wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
Nancy was a supporting member to the Auxiliary to Bessemer American Legion Post 27. She was known for her smile, caring heart, deep faith, and hard work ethic.
For many years, Nancy and her husband were the proprietors of the A&W Root Beer Stand and the Korner Kitchen, both on East U.S. 2 in Wakefield.
Nancy is survived by two sons, Donald C., Wayne, Michigan, and Matt, San Diego, California; two daughters, Diane Rowe, Duluth, Minnesota, and Polly (Gordy) Erickson, Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin; seven cherished grandchildren, Amanda (Behn), Jeremy, Nick, Sydney, Lane (Amanda), Logan and Kaylee; three precious great-grandsons, Ace, Mac and Leo; three sisters, Carol McNabb, Jean Hull and Harriet Maness; three brothers, Michael (Greta) Buehler, Patrick (Mickey) Buehler and Timothy Buehler; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher; and two brothers, Christopher Buehler and Carl Buehler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 10, at 2 p.m., preceded by visitation at 1:30 p.m., at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 210 E. Iron St., in Bessemer, with the Rev. Dominic Agyapong, celebrant.
A luncheon will be served immediately following the Mass at the Father Swoboda Hall at the church.
