Obituary

Mrytle H. Pingel, 101, a longtime resident of Ironwood, formerly of Ramsay, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011.
She was born on May 7, 1910, in Ramsay, daughter of the late James and Anna (Johnson) Peterson. Myrtle attended Ramsay School and A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer.
She was married to John F. Pingel. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1972.
Myrtle was a driller in Willow Run and was a telephone operator for Michigan Bell for several years.
She is survived by a son, Roy (Patricia), Cedarburg, Wis.; a daughter, Connie (Larry Anderson) Dickerhoff, Bessemer; three grandchildren, Glen (Anna) Pavlovich, Bessemer, Deborah Pingel, Mayville, Wis., and special granddaughter, Tracie Sheffield, Bessemer; nine great-grandchildren, Michael, Alexandria, Patrick, Vivian and Veronica Pavlovich, Joshua and Daniel Sheffield, Ryan Koonce and Mary Elizabeth Pingel; and nieces, a nephew and a special niece, Sharon (Gene) Arntsen, Marquette.
Besides her parents and husband, Myrtle was preceded in death by two grandsons, Daniel Pingel, in 1969, and Jeffrey Pingel, in 1990; three brothers, Ted, in 1996, Leonard, in 2002, and Roy, in 2006; and her sister, Alice Ikola, in 1996.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, May 12, from 11 a.m. until noon, at Lakeside Memorial Chapel, where a memorial service will follow at noon. The Rev. Wesley "Bo" Baumeister, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood, will officiate.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
