Obituary

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Miloslav “Mike/Milo” Kosc, 76, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Mike was born on Nov. 11, 1949, in Czechoslovakia, and he came to the United States of America in 1972.

Mike worked as a truck driver for 30 years, and lived in Illinois for 32 years, before moving to Wakefield with his wife, Mary, in 2001.

Mike and Mary bought the closed down Central School in Wakefield in 2000. They converted the school into Sunday Lake Apartments and gave many people in the Upper Peninsula a home and a sense of community.

Mike will be remembered for his love of card playing, fishing, skiing, hunting and hiking, along with his hard work in everything he had done.

Mike is survived by his wife, Mary; his son, Michael; a stepdaughter, Izabel; a granddaughter, Jessica; three brothers, Vita, Ivo and Jirka; a sister, Jana; and several nieces.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 10, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10:30 a.m., at the Lakeside Memorial Chapel, 806 Putnam St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Christian Flagstadt officiating.

Following the service, a luncheon will be served at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084, 107 E. U.S. 2, Wakefield.

His family is grateful for your prayers and condolences during this difficult time.

Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield, is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed online at lakesidememorialchapel.com
