KIMBALL, Wis. – Michael Paul Henning, 83, of Kimball, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota, surrounded by his loving family, following a battle with cancer.
Michael was born on Aug. 24, 1942, in Kimball, a son of Paul and Theresa Henning. He graduated from Hurley High School in 1961, and immediately went into the U.S. Army. Michael married Lynda K. Eilo on Sept. 30, 1961. They had six beautiful children together.
Michael worked at White Pine Copper Mine. He then began his own trucking company, Henning Trucking, and ran it for many successful years until his retirement.
Michael had a passion for flying airplanes and owned many through the years, always had woodworking projects ongoing and enjoyed riding his Harleys, along with many other adventures.
He participated in the U.P. Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2025, and it was one of the biggest highlights of his life.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lynda; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Karen Henning; and a daughter, Lisa Waldros.
He is survived by four children, Cindy Waldros (Kenny), T.C. Henning (Terry), Michael Henning (Roxy) and Crystal Schutz (Ken); his son-in-law, Dean Waldros; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Brinnington (John); a brother, Gene Henning (Barb); his step-sister, Shirley Tratechaud; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Jean; and two four-legged friends, Molly and Beans.
Out of respect for his wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 9, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Kimball Community Center, where full military rites will be accorded at 2 p.m.
The family has chosen Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield, Michigan, to honor Michael's legacy of life.
