Michael Anderson

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Michael Anderson, 88, of Ironwood, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, at Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Community in Ironwood.

Mike was born on Oct. 2, 1937, in Augusta, Wisconsin, to Otis and Myrtle (Olson) Anderson. He graduated in 1955 from high school and 1959 from UW Eau Claire.

Mike served two years in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1962. Following his honorable discharge, he went on a vacation tour through Europe and Scandinavia.

Mike settled in Milwaukee. He met his future wife at Buddy Beaks Bar in Shorewood, Wisconsin. They dated, fell in love, and got married on April 24, 1965, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. They later moved to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, to start a family. They were blessed with three children and finally settled in Ironwood.

Mike started his working career in newspapers and retired from the Ironwood Daily Globe in 2002.

He was a very active member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood. His family and faith were the most important things in his life.

Mike is survived by three children and their spouses, Pete (Lisa) Anderson, Bethany (Scott) Rodenhuis and Paula (Dan) Scholten; two grandchildren, Sam Scholten and Tony Scholten; Lisa's children, Kayla (Jamie) Johnston and Kim (Preston) Close, and her grandchildren, Jaymen and Malcolm; and a brother, Joe Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Mary Jo; a sister and brother-in-law, Marie and David Lange; and his sister-in-law, Lucy Anderson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 10:30 a.m., preceded by visitation at 9:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, E5104 Margaret St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. David Jacob officiating.

A luncheon reception will be held in the church fellowship hall immediately following the funeral service.

Committal services and interment will take place in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.

The family would like to thank everyone at Westgate for their kindness and loving care, especially Dan Paris, Michael Ryan and Brandon Hannu, who he had special relationships with.
