WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Mary Rose Tosco, 93, a longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield, where she had been a patient for more than 12 years.
She was born on May 8, 1919, in Boniface, one of six children to the late John and Julia (Ehnot) Kaufmann.
On June 25, 1938, Mary was united in marriage to John J. Tosco in Wakefield. They celebrated more than 50 years of marriage before his passing on Sept. 30, 1988.
She and her husband owned and operated the Highway Shoe Shop in Wakefield and the Factory Shoe Shop in Ironwood.
Mary is survived by her son-in-law, Jack Pogliano, Ironwood; a grandson, Scott Pogliano, Bessemer; a granddaughter, Gayle (Rob) Barland, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; two great-grandsons, Nick (Kelly) Barland, Coon Rapids, Minn., and Josh Barland, Brooklyn Park; a great-great-granddaughter, Samantha Barland, Coon Rapids; two sisters, Jule (Edward) Roberge, Iron Mountain, and Helen Mondich, Arlington, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Carolyn Pogliano, on Aug. 20, 2010; and three sisters, Agnes, Ann and Katy.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield.
Rite of Committal and burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery.
