MARENISCO, Mich. – Mary L. "Cookie" Conterio, 73, of Marenisco, passed away early Tuesday morning, Dec. 4, 2018.

Mary was born on Dec. 25, 1944, in Bessemer Township, the daughter of BJ and Dorothy Conterio. She was a graduate of Marenisco High School and Western Michigan University.

Mary was a dedicated teacher in Charlevoix.

Cookie is survived by a brother, Bud Balcom, Marenisco; and several cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, John Conterio and Kenneth Balcom.

A funeral liturgy will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m., preceded by visitation at 9:30 a.m., at Lakeside Memorial Chapel, 806 Putnam St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Dominic Agyapong officiating.

Following the service, luncheon will be served at the Marenisco Township Hall.

Rite of Committal and interment will take place at Marenisco Cemetery in the spring.
