Obituary

BESSEMER, Mich. – Marlene Ann (nee Wanhaaho) Thomas, 67, of Bessemer, passed away Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021.

She was born on July 12, 1954, in L'Anse, a daughter of Martin Arnold and Sylvia Mary (Kiviranta) Wanhaaho.

On Aug. 4, 1984, Marlene was united in marriage to David Lyle Thomas in Evanston, Wyoming.

She was a certified nursing assistant.

When Marlene and David lived in Exton, Pennsylvania, she worked at Frank's Nursery & Crafts and was a supervisor at Michaels Arts & Crafts.

She was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Ironwood.

Marlene is survived by her husband, David; a brother, Keith (Shirley) Wanhaaho, Elo; two sisters, Jeanne (Daryl) Lampela, Allouez, and Diane Piispanen, Ironwood; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Marla Jean Wanhaaho, in 1958.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 9 a.m., preceded by visitation at 8:30 a.m., at the Apostolic Lutheran Church, 326 W. Aurora St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Alan Estola officiating.
