Linda
Green
May 7, 1947 – December 29, 2024
WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Linda Sue (Wacker) Green, 77, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Wakefield, on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
Linda, the first daughter of Esther (Niemi) and Al Wacker was born on May 7, 1947, in Wakefield. She graduated from Wakefield High School, with the class of 1965. She excelled in writing and majored in English and journalism while attending Northern Michigan University. Her choice of studies greatly influenced her life, leading her to travel across the country. She began writing and marketing for Host Communication, then dipped into the music industry as a media coordinator for Renfro Valley entertainment. She later worked as office manager for Silks Unlimited, a premier producer of horse racing silks. Although she lived for many years in Tennessee and Kentucky, Linda maintained deep roots in Wakefield, often braving the long drive back home for "Forchuly" and Christmas.
After many years of traveling, her most rewarding change came in 2004, when she returned home and began working at the Wakefield Pharmacy and writing a featured column for the Wakefield News/Bessemer Pick & Axe.
Linda loved her close community of friends, often going to "choir practice" and if you've read any of her articles, know this has nothing to do with singing. She couldn't carry a note—trust her family on this. She loved to travel to the ocean, or be on the shores of Lake Superior, spending hours traipsing the beach finding rocks with coffee and ciggies in hand. Always quick with a laugh, witty with her words, and wise beyond her years, Linda is deeply loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
Linda is survived by her siblings, Alan, Carol (Richard) and Jim (Stephanie); her loved and adored nephews and nieces, TJ, Katelin, Michael, Brian, Eric and Anna; many cherished cousins, including Lorinda Niemi and Craig (Valerie) Niemi; chosen sister, Suzie (Dave) Guyer; her church family of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church; and many dear friends from near and far.
The family will honor Linda's life in a private service in the summer.
A special thank you to Tyler and Ally of Beacon Ambulance, and the comfort given by Deputy Ryan Zawodney. We are also grateful to Jerald Rocco of Lakeside Memorial Chapel and to the Rocco family for their kindness and many years of friendship.
