WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Leo Urbanski, 89, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Wakefield, after a brief illness.
He was born on March 12, 1923, in Wakefield, the son of Frank and Rozalia (Pawlowski) Urbanski. Leo graduated from Wakefield High School in 1941.
He proudly served his country as a private first class with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Leo worked various jobs throughout his life. He retired in 1985 from the city of Wakefield.
Leo was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield. In his free time, he loved to walk.
Leo is survived by three brothers, John, Wakefield, Harry (Mary), Kingsford, and Charles (Verna), Wakefield; his sister-in-law, Shirley Urbanski, Ironwood; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Zigmund "Ziggy;" and four sisters, Cecelia in infancy, Mary Bridgeman, Bernice Gibas and Sophie Boedigheimer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield, with the Rev. Allan J. Mayotte, celebrant.
Rite of Committal and burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery.
Lunch will be served in the parish hall at the church following the cemetery service.
