Obituary

MARENISCO, Mich. – Larry James Sharpe, 71, of Marenisco, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at his residence.

He was born on Sept. 22, 1941, in Flint, the son of George B. and Edna L. (Nickerson) Sharpe. He graduated from Kearsley High School in Flint.

After high school, Larry was united in marriage to Patricia Thompson, and they were blessed with two sons, Robbie and David. Later they divorced.

He was employed by and retired from AC Spark Plug in Flint after 30 years of service. Larry was a member of the United Automobile Workers.

After retirement, he moved to his new home in Trout Creek, and then Marenisco.

An avid outdoorsman, Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a life member of the North American Hunting Club in Minneapolis, and a member of the National Rifle Association. He also raised and trained beagles for the Great Lakes Beagle Club in Otisville.

Larry is survived by his two sons, Rob (Peggy) and Dave (Jennifer), both of Arizona; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald "Jerry" (Dolly), Flint; many nieces and nephews; an aunt; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Dale; and two sisters, Laura Kukla and June, in infancy.

There will be no visitation.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m., in the chapel at Keen Agers in Wakefield. The Rev. Chips C. Paulson, Hospice Chaplain and Pastor of Manitowish Waters Presbyterian Community Church, will officiate.

Luncheon will follow at Ma's Place in Wakefield.

Burial will take place at a later date in the family plot in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery, Alpena.

The family would like to thank everyone at the Regional Hospice Services, Inc., especially Gina Cummings and Carol Matazel, for their kindness and loving care that was given to Larry during his illness.

With the help of Regional Hospice new homes and services were provided for Larry's two dogs and cats. Memorial contributions may be given to Regional Hospice, Pets Peace of Mind, 100 S. Mill Street, Bessemer MI 49911, or www.regionalhospice.org.
