BESSEMER, Mich. – Kathryn F. Rundell, 95, of Bessemer, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 28, 2022, with her children by her side.

Kathryn was born on Sept. 28, 1926, in Bessemer, to Lawrence L. and Lillian I. Martin. She was the eldest of their six children. She attended local schools and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer in 1945.

On Oct. 16, 1948, Kathryn married Robert A. Rundell. They made their home in Bessemer.

Kathryn was a longtime member of Sharon Lutheran Church and also a longtime volunteer at Aspirus-Grand View Hospital.

She was a skilled baker, especially with breads and pies. She enjoyed knitting and made many dishcloths, afghans, stockings, hats, scarves and mittens for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; all her siblings; and many in-laws.

Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Diane; her son, Darrell (Pam); and grandchildren, Eric (Lucy), Matthew and Kelly Rundell. She is also survived by sisters- and brothers-in-law, Lois Martin, Betty Johnson, Edith Rundell, Jim Rundell and Leo (Carol) Rundell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kathryn was able to remain in her own home during her final years, with her daughter, Diane, serving as caregiver. The family would like to thank Breanne and Terri, as well as Regional Hospice for their invaluable help and many kindnesses.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Sharon Lutheran Church, 100 E. Sellar St., in Bessemer, on Friday, July 29, beginning at 10 a.m., until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Lauri Maki will officiate.

A committal service and interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.

Upon return from the cemetery, a reception will take place in Kastman Hall.
