June Kotila-Treptow, 78, of Bruce Crossing, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
June was born on June 28, 1938, in Bruce Crossing, the daughter of Eddie and Selma (Murto) Illikainen. She graduated from Ewen High School.
June was an incredible talented artist, painted pictures, carved wood, sewed anything and everything, dyed fabrics, knitted, rode horses, flew an airplane, drove a bulldozer and tractors, milked cows, raised puppies and loved her chickens. She also taught art classes at Gogebic Community College and Northern Michigan University. June and her husband wintered in Arizona/Texas and lived in Bruce Crossing during the summer.
June was survived by husband, Robert Treptow; two daughters Janine Tadlock, Wakefield, and Christine Kotila-Bowers, New Orleans; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Michael (Kathy) Illikainen, Grand Rapids, and Stanley (Terri) Illikainen, Hurricane, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Kotila.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, May 27, at 11 a.m. EDT, preceded by memorial visitation at 10 a.m. (EDT) at the Bruce Crossing Bible Church, with the Rev. Steven Washburn officiating.
Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Bruce Crossing.
Luncheon will follow at Twilly's Restaurant and Bar.
