Julian Marshall "Jack" Davis, 84, of Watersmeet, Mich., passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at his home, after a brief illness.
He was born on April 5, 1926, in Hillsboro, Ky., the son of Charles Payne and Maude Mae (Calvert) Davis.
Julian was a World War II veteran and served in the Asiatic Pacific.
He lived in Illinois from 1950 to 1979, where he was a pilot and flight instructor and small business manager.
In 1979, Jack moved to Watersmeet.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.
Julian is survived by a daughter, Sandra, Wildwood, Ill.; a son, Jack, Oakland, Calif.; two grandsons, Joshua Cosner, Peoria, Ill., and Seth (Kelly) Cosner, St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Manning and Anna Lee Doyle, both of Flemingsburg, Ky.; a brother, Robert "Bobby" (Gloria), Poplar Plains, Ky.; his longtime companion, Charlotte Baker, Grayslake, Ill.; numerous nieces and nephews; other loving relatives; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Elmer, Marion, Earl "Sam," John, Wayne and Raymond; and a sister, Margaret Barbour.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, Jan. 12, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Watersmeet Baptist Church, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Skip Pullen officiating.
Following the service, military rites will be accorded by the Watersmeet American Legion Post 417.
Lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall following the military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
