Obituary

OSKALOOSA, Iowa – Janet Marie Mussatti, 73, of Bessemer, Mich., passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 17, 2017, at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

Janet was born on Oct. 30, 1943, in Marenisco, Mich., a daughter of Leslie Edward and Pearl Marie (Hebert) Havenor. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Marenisco in 1962. Following high school, Janet attended beauty school in Duluth, Minn.

On a trip to visit her brother in Milwaukee, she met a friend of her brother, Robert Dwight Mussatti, who had recently been honorably discharged from the service. A whirlwind romance ensued, and Janet and Robert were united in marriage on March 23, 1963.

In 1968, the family moved back to Bessemer.

Over the years, Janet worked a variety of jobs, but her primary focus was always her home and family.

Janet and Robert took great pleasure in camping and fishing at their cabin on the beautiful Black River in Bessemer Township, Mich.

Janet is survived by her beloved husband, Robert; four children, Tony Mussatti and Geno Mussatti, both of Bessemer, Heidi (Michael) McKay, Oskaloosa, and Craig (Elizabeth) Mussatti, stationed at Fort Stewart, near Savannah, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, Tony Michael Mussatti, Nathan Mussatti, Alex Mussatti, Kurt Mussatti, Robert Ikola, Matthew Mussatti, Tyler Mussatti, Brandon Mussatti, Jacob Mussatti, Roger Ikola III, Jared Jackson, Amanda Mussatti and Nicholas Mussatti; a great-grandson, Carsen Ikola; a sister, Sharon Kelley, Silver Bay, Minn.; a brother, Russell (Pam) Havenor, Ironwood, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Charles Havenor and Leslie Havenor; and two sisters, Joyce Rosenau and Beverly Kaufman.

In accordance with Janet's wishes, cremation will take place.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m., at Lakeside Memorial Chapel, 806 Putnam St., in Wakefield, Mich., with the Rev. Raymond F. Moncher officiating.

A luncheon will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House, 1229 C Ave., East Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory in Oskaloosa and Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield.
