Obituary

James Errol “Jim or Grumpy” Rundell, 88, of Menomonee Falls, WI, went home to Jesus peacefully surrounded by much love on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, WI.

Born in Bessemer Township, MI, on October 31, 1937, he was the son of the late Uno and Jennie (Piispanen) Rundell. He attended Roosevelt School and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood, MI, in 1956. He went to Milwaukee Area Technical College and graduated with a degree in tool and die.

On June 6, 1959, Jim married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Beverly Koski. Their 45-year marriage was an inspiration to all who knew them until her death in 2004. Family was always the most important thing in their lives, and they are now together again and square dancing for all eternity.

Jim was a hard worker. He worked 2nd shift as a journeyman tool and die maker for American Motors and retired from Chrysler Corporation after 30 years of service. After he retired, he decided to keep busy by caring for his grandsons, TJ and Dylan, two days a week until they started school.

In his spare time, he enjoyed and excelled at woodworking. He was a perfectionist, and his quality standards were extremely high. Many friends and family will remember him by the items he lovingly made for them. He also enjoyed playing cards and chicken foot, doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles, camping, fishing, boating, ATVing and spending time at his place in Anvil, MI. But most of all, he was happiest when spending time with his children, grandchildren and especially his great-grandchildren, Cooper and Aspen, who were the light of his life. He fought so hard with all the sisu he had at the end so “he could watch them grow up.”

Despite affectionately and lovingly being called “Grumpy,” he was a simple soul, extremely good-hearted, loved to joke around and a man of few words. However, when he spoke, he usually had a good zinger or two.

Jim is survived by his special friend and companion, Doris; daughter, Wendy (Bill) Krivoshein of Cedarburg, WI; son, Ricky (Heather Nutbeam) of Muskego, WI; his beloved grandchildren, TJ (fiancé Jen Watts) Krivoshein of Oshkosh, Dylan (Jolyn) Krivoshein of Slinger, WI, Madison Rundell of Mukwonago, WI, and Jacob Rundell of Muskego; his adored great-grandchildren, Cooper Krivoshein of Oshkosh, and Aspen Krivoshein of Slinger; his foreign exchange grandsons, Rodrigo Santarosa of Brazil, and Eeli Ylilehto of Finland; his bonus great-grandsons, Mason Treinen of Racine, WI, and AJ Treinen of Rio; brother, Leo (Carol) of Green River, WY; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances and David Walli of Menomonee Falls; his sister-in-law, Donna Albertson of Ashland, WI; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his best friend and loving wife, Beverly; three brothers, Robert, Arthur and Russell; two sisters, Lois Last and Betty Johnson; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Rundell, Florence Rundell and Edith Rundell; brothers-in-law, Carl Johnson, Harvey Last, Bill Albertson, and John Koski; and nephews, Jeff and Dan Walli.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1202 Putnam Street, Wakefield, MI, with the Rev. Heidi Johns officiating. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer, MI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Jim’s favorite charity, St. Jude, would be appreciated.

Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel, Inc., in Wakefield, is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed online at lakesidememorialchapel.com.
