IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – James A. Clark, 71, of Ironwood Township, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 11, 1941, in Detroit, the son of Arthur E. and Lillian L. (Anderson) Clark.
Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years.
On July 1, 1961, he married Judith Carol Spencer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wakefield.
Jim was employed by General Trading Co. (CarQuest Auto Parts Store) in Ironwood for 43 years, and retired in 2003.
He was a member of the Wakefield American Legion Post 11.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; a son, Scott (Krystal), Ironwood; two granddaughters, Nicole (Brandon) Pertile, Bessemer, Deanna Clark, Ironwood; two great-grandchildren, Briana Saari and Peyton Pertile; two brothers, Jack (Ruth), Livonia, and Keith (Karen), Wakefield; his brother-in-law, James Spencer, Wakefield; his sister-in-law, Barbara (Jerry) Toivonen, Crystal Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Todd, on Aug. 18, 1968; and a sister, Della Grace.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held today, Saturday, March 31, at the Wakefield American Legion Post 11, beginning at 1 p.m.
Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 11 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084 Honor Guard.
