She was born on Aug. 21, 1922, in Wakefield, the second daughter of Elias and Maria (Hautaoja) Oja. Ile attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1941. She continued her education at Suomi College in Hancock.

Ile worked as a secretary for many years in Duluth, Minn., and Denver.

She was a devoted member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield.

Ile is survived by a sister, Sylvia Oja, Wakefield; her sister-in-law, Marie Oja, Niagara, Wis.; her brother-in-law, Ernest (Jim) Johnson, San Mateo, Calif.; six nieces and nephews; and 20 great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Veikko Oja; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rhoda Johnson and Syma and Sig Erickson; and a nephew, Ken Oja.

Throughout her years, Ile consistently modeled a life of character and giving to others. Her quiet and modest example has blessed all who were privileged to know her. Her nieces and nephews, in particular, appreciate her example of a "life well-lived."
