IRONWOOD, Mich. – Hubert John Mewbourn, 68, of Ironwood, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota.

John was born on Feb. 10, 1955, in Ironwood, a son of Herbert and Kathleen (Kraynak) Mewbourn. He attended Luther L. Wright High School and graduated in 1974.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years.

After boot camp in Orlando, Florida, John married his high school sweetheart, Rita Jean Wuorinen, on Aug. 31, 1974, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bessemer.

John was employed at the Ironwood Daily Globe for 28 years.

In his free time, he was a mechanic and was always working on a project.

John is survived by his wife, Rita; two sons, Jeromy and Tim; a daughter, Angela; six grandchildren; and other loving relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents; and an infant son, Curtis.

At John's request, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
