WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Hans Carl Anderson, 75 years young, of Wakefield, peacefully passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minn.

Hans was born on March 7, 1943, in Wakefield, to Howard and Julie Anderson.

He is survived by the love of his life, Linda Anderson; five children, Teresa (Dan) Larson, Trista (Gary) Bartko, Brad (Stacy) Anderson, Tammy (Zac) Larson and Brandon (Crystal) Anderson; 11 grandchildren, Bethany, Brittney, Matthew, Andrew, Rachel, Kathryne, Makayla, Lillian, Isabelle, Ezekiel and Phoenix; and one great-grandchild, Kinley.

In the summer of 2017, Hans and Linda permanently moved back to Wakefield from Bloomington, Minn., to downsize their lifestyle. Hans continued to work full-time with Burton Industries, Inc., because he loved what he did. Electrical engineering was his passion, along with working on older model cars, fishing, painting and spending quality time with family and friends. Hans was never one to take things slow, he would always dive into anything with his whole heart and his complete attention.

On Sunday, Oct. 7, Hans was preparing the house and surrounding grounds for winter. On this particular day, he was cutting down an old branch from a tree close to the house when the branch snapped and hit the ladder causing Hans to fall approximately 15 feet to the ground. 911 was called and Hans was transferred to Aspirus Ironwood Hospital where he was initially stabilized and it was determined that he needed to be airlifted to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center. Once at St. Mary's, the medical staff initiated treatment immediately. Over the next several days, the staff continued to provide amazing care and attention to detail to Hans and his medical needs. Unfortunately, due to the extent of the injuries caused by the fall, Hans was called home to our Holy Father five days later.

Hans was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all.

A celebration of life for Hans will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Lakeside Memorial Chapel, 806 Putnam St., in Wakefield.
