TROUT CREEK, Mich. – Gary Gustafson, 70, of Trout Creek, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

Gary was born on Oct. 22, 1954, in Wakefield, a son of Toivo  and Ellen (Lindell) Gustafson. He attended Ewen-Trout Creek High School and graduated in 1972.

Gary worked on the family farm and lived in his family home. He owned and operated Gustafson Logging and Gustafson Excavating.

On Feb. 13, 2015, Gary married Debbie Winkel.

He enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions and Tigers. Gary was a collector of tractors and snowmobiles. There wasn't a tractor that he couldn't pass by.

Gary is survived by his wife, Debbie; a sister, Dorothy Carr; his sister-in-law, Julia Gustafson; five nephews, David "Bo" Gustafson, Roger Gustafson, Steve (Char) Gustafson, Todd (Alexandra) Holmstrom and Wayne Gustafson; two nieces, Lori (Dennis) Lannet and Karita Latvala; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and sister-in-law, Ralph and Phyllis Gustafson, and Billy Gustafson; and a niece, Stacey Gustafson.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. EDT, preceded by visitation at 1 p.m. EDT, at the Trinity Lutheran Community Church in Trout Creek, with the Rev. Bill Jacobson officiating.

A committal service and interment will follow at the Agate Cemetery.

Luncheon will be served at Twilly's in Bruce Crossing immediately upon return from the cemetery.
