Frank A. Chlebowski

IRONWOOD, Mich. – Frank A. Chlebowski, 96, a longtime resident of Bessemer, passed away peacefully late Saturday evening, Oct. 1, 2011, in Ironwood, after a brief illness.

He was born on May 27, 1915, in Wakefield, the son of Vincent and Helen (Langa) Chlebowski.


On Jan. 30, 1937, Frank married Anna T. Kowalski, in Milwaukee.

He was a truck driver for more than 30 years. Frank was a lifetime member of Teamsters Local No. 200, a great storyteller and an avid gardener.


He was a loving and affectionate husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa, and will be deeply missed by all.


Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Anna; two daughters, Bernice Janczak, Bessemer, and Karen (Ronald) Bryce, Stow, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Richard Janczak, Paul (Debbie) Janczak, Christine (Jerry) Berles, Nicole (Daniel) Flannery, Jennifer (James) Schrader, Sean (Brenna) Bryce and Kimberly (Jason) Brown; 10 great-grandchildren, Deanna Janczak, Megan, Jared and Hannah Janczak, Arianna, Danny Allen and David Flannery, Trent Brown and Zachary and Elizabeth Schrader; a great-great-granddaughter, Patience Prochnow; his former granddaughter by marriage, Jan Janczak; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol Ann, in infancy; his son-in-law, Richard Janczak; and 13 brothers and sisters, Stanley, Vincent, Carrie, Walter, Victor, Gladys, Theodore, Victoria, Violet, Sophie, Carl, Frances and Clara.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer, with the Rev. Louis P. Bracket officiating.


Rite of Committal and burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the Mass at the church.
