Obituary

BESSEMER, Mich. - Francine Ann Kuse Sedovic, of Bessemer, died peacefully at home on St Patrick's Day, March 17, 2025, one week after celebrating her 81st birthday.

Franny was born on March 10, 1944, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to Caroline Dorothy Feit Kuse and Ernest John Kuse, and raised in Park Falls, Wisconsin.

She married Ronald M. Sedovic and moved to Hurley, Wisconsin. The couple had three children. After their divorce, Franny worked at the local radio station in Ironwood, and took classes at Gogebic Community College. She attended Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, and completed the substance abuse counselor training program at Ashland's Memorial Medical Center, obtaining her associate's degree and certification to practice.

In 1983, Franny moved to Alaska and began her 25 year vocation of providing counseling for addicts and alcoholics. She started her career at the Mat-Su Council in Wasilla, Alaska, and retired from Nugen's Ranch, an inpatient, long-term, treatment facility, also in Wasilla. In 2007, she received the Ernie Turner Counselor of the Year Award from the 33rd Annual School on Addictions, in Anchorage, Alaska.

Franny returned to the Ironwood area in 2017, moving to Bessemer, with her life partner, David W. Burrow.

Franny loved to paint and was a very talented artist. Her works adorn the homes of many friends and family. She also loved her recovery meetings and everyone she met there. She enjoyed reading, music, movies, her television shows, her social media, Scrabble, going out to lunch, shopping and being anywhere near Lake Superior. She had a sublime sense of humor, and an incredibly beautiful spirit. She touched many lives and was very beloved. We love and miss her, and hope to have a Scrabble re-match with her one day in Heaven.

Franny is survived by her children, Amy Sedovic, Ronald J. (Kris) Sedovic and Jason (Michelle) Sedovic; grandchildren, Lacy (Duncan) Kennedy, Jimmy Sedovic and Max Sedovic; her beloved companion, David Burrow; a brother, Bill Kuse; her sister-in-law, Gertie Kuse; nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; aunts and uncles; a brother, James Kuse; a sister, Margaret Kuse; her sister/cousin, Becky Warshall; several besties; and her sweet dog, Dexter.

No formal services are planned at this time.

The family wishes to thank Eve Komosa and Nurse Stephanie, Aspirus Ironwood nursing staff, their home health and hospice staff, in particular Michelle Koski and Leah Harsvick for their outstanding and compassionate care. And last, to Taconelli's by Bartlett for having her very favorite meal in the world on Saturday, corned beef and cabbage, in honor of St Patrick's Day.
