Obituary

IRONWOOD, Mich.- Eugene “Geno” Joseph Milewski, 87, passed away on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and close friends.

Geno is survived by his three daughters, Diana (Jim) Alexandroni, Donna Milewski-Dorner, and Debbie (Jeff) Lekies; grandchildren, Barbie Esterline, Robby Lampart, Nicki (Chris) Hudson, Janelle Lekies, Carissa VanVonderen, and Alesha Dorner; and many adoring nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Milewski; his parents, Ben and Sophie Milewski; his sister and brother-in-law, Josie and Pearce Graham; and his brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Anita Milewski.

Geno was born on Feb. 14, 1939, and grew up in Palms Location in Bessemer. He graduated from A.D. Johnston High School, where he developed a love for sports.

Shortly after high school, he joined the U.S. Army, where he proudly served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division until returning home to care for his widowed mother. He often told stories of the jumps he made in Panama and how he’d do it all over again to serve his country.

Geno married Jackie in 1961 and, together, welcomed three beautiful girls into their lives. He and his brother co-founded M&M Plumbing and Heating, and, even after his brother’s death, ran the business well into his 80s. His favorite pastimes included fishing on Lake Gogebic, gardening and tending to his backyard ponds. He also loved watching sports events - anything from NFL games to his grandkids’ volleyball games.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3673 in Bessemer from 9 a.m. until noon.
