Obituary

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Eugene Thomas "Geno" DeFelice, 55, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Ironwood, Michigan, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022.

Eugene was born on June 15, 1966, in Ironwood, the son of Armand and Helen Anna (Savonen) DeFelice. He attended Luther L. Wright High School and graduated in 1984, where he participated in JROTC. Geno then attended and graduated from Gogebic Community College with an associate degree.

He worked at various places in Ironwood, including the family business, D & B Freight Sales. He was currently employed as director of plant operations at the Sage Bluff Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne.

While in Ironwood, Geno was an active member of the Sons' Auxiliary to the Ironwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1823. He was a dedicated member to numerous other organizations in Fort Wayne.

Geno is survived by two sisters, Diana "Dee Dee" (Jim) Lorenson, Ironwood, and Amanda (Peter) Nickel, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; seven nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; many cousins; and a very special family friend, Jim Jenkins.

He was predeceased by his father, Armand, in 1990; and a sister, Bonnie Lee DeFelice, in 2009. His mother, Helen, died on April 21, 2022.

At the family's request, cremation has taken place.

A private service will be held at a later date with Chaplain Matt Agee officiating.

Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.
