WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Ellen Marie (nee Koski) Maki, 99, of Wakefield, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2022.

Ellen was born on Sept. 24, 1922, in Wakefield, a daughter of Sulo Eli and Lydia Kathryn (Laine) Koski. She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1940.

Ellen proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On April 20, 1946, she was united in marriage to Tauno E. "Prince" Maki in Wakefield.

Ellen was a healer, a dedicated nurse, a giver, a preacher and a voice of God, but most of all she was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma, great-grandma and aunt.

Ellen saw wars she saw hate she saw peace she saw love, but above all that she saw the beauty in the world around her and in the beauty of the family she created.

Ellen is survived by a son, Paul (Heath), Asheville, North Carolina; two daughters, Arnelle Randall, Clovis, California, and Susan Cavalier, Eagan, Minnesota; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Maki, Ramsay; eight grandchildren, Joy (James), Luke, Haven (Dustin), Maggie, Alora (Aaron), Amber (fiancé Logan), MacKenzie and MacKayla; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tauno, on Dec. 25, 1978; two sons, Gerald, on Sept. 1, 1990, and Glenn, on July 4, 2002; a granddaughter, Layla; two brothers, Felix and Arnie; and three sisters, Gerty, Laila and Elsie.

The family is honoring her life in a private funeral service.
