Eleanor Marlys
Turula
April 15, 1930 – January 28, 2025
RAMSAY, Mich. - Eleanor Marlys Turula, 94, a longtime resident of Ramsay, was born on April 15, 1930, in Wakefield, to the late Matt and Saima (Johnson) Wuorinen, and passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at The Deerfield Senior Living Community, New Richmond, Wisconsin. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Eleanor was a devoted wife and married to her husband, Chester, for 65 years before he preceded her in death. She was also a proud loving mother of two children, Gena and David. Her two grandsons, Jory and Jason, brought her the greatest joy. They always seemed to bring out that extra sparkle to her eyes.
In her later years, living in Hudson, Wisconsin, we all learned there was no place like home for Eleanor. Indianhead Road in Wakefield, and Ramsay, were always in her heart.
Eleanor was a longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bessemer. We find comfort as a family knowing Eleanor's eternity is secure by her belief in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her children, Gena (Mike) Hartmon, Hudson, Wisconsin, and David (Theresa) Turula, Ramsay; grandsons, Jory and Jason Turula; a sister, Linda Anderson; a brother, Jerry (Ann) Wuorinen; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Wuorinen and Jean Wuorinen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Winkka and Irene Hewitt; and three brothers, Matt, Kenneth and Leslie Wuorinen.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ramsay, with the Rev. Stephen Pope officiating.
Luncheon will be served at the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
A committal service and interment will take place in the spring at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, E8223 Sanders Road, Bessemer, MI 49911.
Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., Wakefield, is assisting the family with arrangements. To send online condolences or to share a memory go to lakesidememorialchapel.com.
