WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Elaine M. Tarro, 93, a longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, with her family at her side.

Elaine was born on Dec. 21, 1930, in Ironwood, and was raised by a loving couple, Ben and Mary Yatchak. She attended Wakefield Area Schools.

On Dec. 21, 1948, Elaine married Uno O. Hendrickson and they were blessed with two children, Dan (Chris) Hendrickson, Neguanee, and Jean (Kris) Koski, Wakefield. Uno preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1967.

On Sept. 27, 1969, Elaine married John E. Tarro, they were blessed with two children, John (Josh) Tarro, Atlanta, and James (Amy) Tarro, Wakefield. John preceded her in death on June 3, 2019.

She had many grandchildren, Nick (Ashley) Tarro, Julia Tarro, Scott (Melissa) Hendrickson, Todd (Carly) Hendrickson, Brad (Jackie) Koski, Trina (Brian) Bilgreen, Kim (Bruce) Koski and Blaze Tarro; and great-grandchildren, Paige, Jammie, Tyler, Dylan and Ella Hendrickson, Cody Novara, Taylor and Cale Koski, Hunter and Gracyn Bilgreen, Cole Galeazzi,  Harper Tarro, and Gracie, Carter and Dalton Bouvette.

Elaine enjoyed playing bingo, many trips to the casino, loved watching her grandkids sporting events and caring for her flowers. She looked forward to her afternoon visits with her best friend, Kay Sibley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 407 Ascherman St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Dominic Agyapong, celebrant. Also, in attendance will be the Immaculate Conception Women's Guild Honor Guard.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow at the Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.

A luncheon will be served at the parish hall immediately upon return from the cemetery.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility and the Aspirus Ironwood Hospital for their excellent care of Elaine during her time there.
